They’ll make your home feel brand new, instantly
As with a fresh closet clean-out, curating your space for a new season can provide a much-needed mood boost. After living in the age of hybrid work and hibernating, we’re all slowly beginning to open up our homes to the idea of entertaining. If you’ve recently felt the sudden desire to reinvent your habitat, you’re not alone.
J.J. Martin, founder of cult-status brand La DoubleJ, swears by the joy-inducing, energetic outfitting of spaces. "The home is an extension of consciousness. It's almost like the energy body or the aura that's around you extends into the house itself," she tells Bazaar. What we choose to live with can be a transformative statement. Martin adds, "Every time you look at an object or walk into a room, you should feel good inside. You should be showered in a sense of protective nesting. That's your internal test."
But how do we go about regularly recalibrating our homes without doing a complete overhaul? The key is understanding that it doesn't have to take a lot. Artist and former Bazaar fashion director Kerry Pieri says, "Once you have your spaces and rooms more or less set up, I think that's when it's really fun to find extra-special items to integrate every couple months."
Martin also recommends a refresh every couple of months. "I love bringing in seasonal touches: more cocooning blankets, pillows, and candles in the winter; flowers throughout the spring and summer, depending on what's in bloom," she says. "Something that the Italians do that I love—they change their wardrobes out seasonally. I even have a kind of spring wardrobe for my bed. It's a beautiful ritual that keeps the house tidier and really adds a sense of ceremony to the season's change."
Whether you’re working with a minimalist interior style with a focus on muted colors or looking to add more vibrancy with richer hues and patterns, our favorite housewares below will bring new life into your home at any time of the year.
We love the idea of mixing prints and colors, specifically for a tablescape. Martin tells Bazaar, "You could keep patterned vases on your dinner table as a constant centerpiece, and then play around with patterned plates, napkins, and place mats when you’re hosting an aperitivo or dinner party. What's great is that it's temporary—you get to just be a maximalist for a night, if you want."
There's nothing like a cozy luxe throw to drape over an armchair—it immediately adds warm texture to your living space. This wool and cashmere-blend with the Loewe Anagram is a subtle, artful addition to any room. And you can always curl up with it come winter, too.
These elegant handblown Balloton glasses are crafted on the Venetian islands of Murano, known for their glassmaking history since the 13th century. If you don't want to use them for your next dinner, they’re also pretty enough to throw some flowers in.
These fan-favorite, bestselling pillows are the perfect example of style that doesn't take itself too seriously. The hand-embroidered pillows aren't your standard needlepoint. Instead, they come in playful prints with phrases we can all laugh at, like: I literally can't.
Sometimes all it takes for a reset is clearing the air, literally. This Vyrao incense is made of organic plant and flower essences, using natural scents to amplify spiritual energies through the ceremony of clearing and resetting.
Investing in quality bedding is one of the best quiet-luxury purchases you can make. This nontoxic, sateen-weave cotton set will recalibrate any bedroom, especially with its serene ivory tone.
These wax candles come in the classic shape of a taper candle, but have natural scents like cypress, juniper, and honeysuckle. They’ll bring an air of fresh sophistication to any table or bookshelf.
For the best at-home cocktails, you can turn to La DoubleJ's artisanal gemstone-esque stemware. The richness of color and meticulous craftsmanship of this champagne coupe set will add instant glam to any dining room.
Assouline is a trusted arbiter of culture. The publisher and lifestyle company's destination-focused books let you travel from home, and of course, they’re also visually stunning. And its collaborations with brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton provide a jolt of style inspiration. You can't go wrong with what you choose from Assouline—there are so many options to incorporate into your space. We’d honestly recommend buying a handful, for a curated pile you can stack anywhere.
For fashion editors everywhere, these organic Baina towels have become an instant favorite. The brand is well known for its checkered patterns, but its towels also come in a variety of other prints and styles. They all showcase the label's thoughtful approach to home basics, guaranteed to get you excited about your toiletry closet.
Pieri's fail-safe home tip? "You can never go wrong adding in some flowers or branches to bring a little nature in," she says. The storied Astier De Villatte ceramics are handmade on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, and this elegantly understated vase makes the perfect blank canvas for all of your floral arrangements.
This exclusive hand-loomed tablecloth is made from locally sourced cotton and can completely transform any table. If you want a simple minimalist look, opt for the cool coastal-inspired blue-and-white stripe.
The most stylish way to corral your belongings is by throwing them into this multifunctional sterling silver dish. Use it as a jewelry holder for the matching exclusive pendant, or leave it untouched as an Art Deco centerpiece.
A collection of holders for your taper candles is an effortless vehicle to bring warmth to a space. This Furbish Studio set adds a couple of vibrant pops of color. You can play with using them all together or break up the set, putting different colors in different rooms in your home.
