Marshall Memo: ‘Kids’ Of All Ages To Perform Live Show At Strand; Glass Show Set

The Missoula Children's Theatre Company will return to the Strand Theatre in Moundsville on June 19-24 offering a free acting workshop for children who have completed kindergarten through age 18 and seniors!

New this year, will be the intergenerational program "King Arthur's Quest" including actors age 55 and up. During the week, participants will be immersed in many aspects of production of a live stage show, culminating with two public performances.

Pre-registrants/on-site registrants will audition from 10 a.m. until noon June 19. Those auditioning should arrive at 9:30 a.m. and plan to stay until noon. Some cast members will be asked to stay for rehearsals immediately following the audition.

The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals from 10 a.m. until 2:15 each day.

Two public performances of "King Arthur's Quest" will be presented June 24 at the Strand.

The Missoula Children's Theatre residency is being brought to the Strand with support from the Evan G. Roberts Fund and the Moundsville Women's Club.

Everything is ready for the 42nd Glass Show & Sale to be held June 9-11. The show will be in the Moundsville Center Building within the walls of the historic West Virginia Penitentiary through the Eighth Street gate.

In addition to the Fostoria Glass Society of America there will be more than seven other glasswares including Depression Glassware. There also will be a seminar at 1 p.m. June 10.

A Glass Auction starts at 5 p.m. June 10 to benefit the FGSA Museum. There will be a flea market beginning at 8 p.m. June 11; admission by donation.

This evening (Saturday) will be the annual Marshall County Relay For Life at the north parking lot at John Marshall High School. The Luminaria Ceremony is the soul of the Relay For Life. During that ceremony, candles will be placed in luminaria bags dedicated in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one lost to cancer.

There will be a number of musicians performing through the evening. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

StarWatch with the SMART Centre at Grand Vue Park will join with Robert Strong from the SMART Centre Market to see stars, planets, the moon and other deep space objects on June 10. Those who have telescopes can bring them or use one which will be on hand

The event will be from 8-10 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Jefferson Fridays with the City of Moundsville Arts & Cultural Commission will take place June 16. There will be live music from Zane Run and Kanawha Band, along with food trucks.

This event will take place on Jefferson Avenue.

The next weekend for the Marshall County Spring Clean-up will take place June 10 at Washington Lands (Todd Kelly Trucking) and Graysville (Community Center). The hours from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

All Marshall County residents are welcome to use these sites.

Also, next Saturday will be E Recycle. Those hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be located in the north parking lot at John Marshall High School.

Items which will be accepted are car and light truck tires (17 inch and smaller), white goods, electronic, computers, air conditioners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers. No televisions will be accepted.

The annual Planting at the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex's Museum Interpretive Garden will take place today (Saturday) from noon to 4 p.m.

Cameron High School's Community Indoor Track Night is expanding to include the following during the months of June and July: Every Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Those participating are to enter at the back of the school. Everyone is welcome.

Monarch Stadium's Community Night is expanding to include every Tuesday and Thursday in June and July. The hours are 6-9 p.m. Everyone is invited to use the track and field.

No pets will be permitted.

The Second Saturday Film: "Fostoria Glass Society of America Presents Crystal Clear During 1948's Age of Elegance" is between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. June 10 at the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex. The 26-minute film will repeat every 30 minutes. The Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex and the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library and others will be celebrating West Virginia Day with an outdoor walking tour/treasure hunt from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on June 20.

Treasure hunt forms can be picked up at the complex and the library, with prizes to be claimed at the library.

Immunization Clinic- Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. All regular childhood and back-to-school immunizations. Appointments are necessary, call304-845-7840.

Covid- 19-Walk in for COVID 19 Vaccines being Mondays through Fridays fro 9-11 a.m., and 1-3 p.m.

PPD (TB) Skin Testing Clinic, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9-11 am, and 1-3 p.m. Appointments are necessary.

Family Planning on Tuesday, 13th. Appointments are necessary.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program: Tuesday June 13th. Appointments are necessary.

Pregnancy Testing Clinic- Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays every week except June 13. Testing is at 8:30 a.m.

STD & HIV Testing available on a regular basis.

Lab Draws which is on Thursday.

The next Food Handlers Training will be June 27 at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m., at the Public Safety Building on 7th Street, Moundsville.

Person In Charge (PIC) training at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m. on June 27 at the PSB.

The Health Department is closed for lunch from noon until 1 p.m.

The Marshall County Board of Health meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on June 14 at the First Christian Church, Moundsville. All interested individuals or delegations wishing

to address the BOH should contact the Health Department Administrator Tom Cook at 304-845-7840.

The Marshall County Health Department will be closed on June 6 for training, and on June 19th and 20th in observation of West Virginia Day.
